The Ormes

A relatively early start, pleasant to hear the birds greeting me at 0630 whilst I loaded the boat.
High tide was 0800 at Conwy so the plan was to meet at the Morfa and then shuttle to the start at Rhos on Sea.
It was showing 0 on the car temp and it was a bit fresh.
The sun shone at Rhos and it had warmed up a tad to 4, off we set and we had planned not to stop for brunch, a very pleasant morning with the sun behind us and a slight wind in our faces.
It started to pick up as we approached the Great Orme and there were a few white horses, wind over tide, mind you it’s very rare that you get it oily around there.
Nothing big with just the occasional hull slap.
Loads of Guillemots about feeding and looking like Duracell toys.
We were also buzzed and circled by a lone Fulmar.
It stayed with us for about 10 mins, left just as I removed my camera for that elusive snap.
Left into the Conwy estuary and after a quick pit stop we zig zagged through the shallow mussel bed channels to get to our destination back at Morfa.
Loaded and then back to Rhos to collect my car and do the unload.
A very pleasant paddle and 12 miles for our first sea paddle of 2009.
