Double Sea Kayak on Bala

We had on loan thanks to Peter (Capsized8) his double Prijon kayak.
One to try it out and the other reasons subject to its availability to give some new folk a taste of sea kayaking.
Combined with helping Ga re transport as his Ranger was in for service we had planned for either Monday or Tuesday.
Due to high winds Tuesday was selected and to remain local at Bala re collection etc of children.
We had decided that before we take someone out we should at least become familiar with the kayak.
Off we set Ga at the rear and me in front, it felt strange, Ga edged and not having control I initially felt wobbly.
No way the hull if it had legs on, there would be ample room to have a meal for 12 on the table top!
It was different and after a short time I got use to it.
Up and down the lake, a brew at the Glan Llyn end Ga met a colleague from the centre who had escaped from her desk and decided to go for a paddle for lunch.
A quick brew and off again, this time I was in the back, a completely different seat I felt immediately more stable as did Ga in the front, the rear seat appeared higher and off we went.
Played about with the slight swell and winds, it had no rudder so that could cause some problems in higher winds.
Something new and different, 10 miles with 2.33 paddling hours a good upper body session and I’m taken by the double.
Wouldn’t swap the Alaw but it’s a different ball game.
