Menai Straits
Just for a change the winds were increasing for the weekend so Friday seemed the only slot.
It’s been a depressing summer so far.
The idea was to launch from Dinas Dinlle go down the Straits and later return using the flow charts.
Fell at the first hurdle as Ga had to be back for Adele’s riding lesson so that was scuppered, so perhaps go over to Llanddwyn Island.
Arrived at the beach, dull, white horses and winds how depressing I was not in the mood; I had seen calmer waters on the Straits on the drive in so I persuaded Ga that it might be an option from Porth Dinorwic.
Loads of cover from the NW winds but unfortunately tides all wrong.
We headed up to the bar and I was surprised how narrow it was, never having been to this area.
I could see Newborough in the distance and once I eventually get through that section I have circumnavigated the Island! Not today though.
Back and again some paddling against the tides.
At least the sun came out.
